Can Raspy River Stingray and Sorong Rainbowfish Live Together?

Raspy River Stingray is a generally mild-mannered species (4/10), while Sorong Rainbowfish is peaceful (2/10). This modest difference means Raspy River Stingray may occasionally assert dominance over Sorong Rainbowfish.

In terms of spatial distribution, Raspy River Stingray prefers the Bottom (Substrate) zone, whereas Sorong Rainbowfish occupies the Top (Surface) and Middle (Open Water) zones. Because they use different levels of the water column, territorial disputes are less likely and the tank will appear more balanced.

Worth noting: Sorong Rainbowfish is a known jumper, so a tight-fitting lid is essential.

To house Raspy River Stingray and Sorong Rainbowfish together, plan for an aquarium of at least 850 litres with a minimum length of 180 cm. Providing a mix of open swimming space and sheltered areas with rocks, driftwood, or plants will keep both species comfortable and allow natural behaviour.
