Can Green Neon Tetra and Parnahyba Whiptail Catfish Live Together?

Green Neon Tetra is a peaceful species (0/10), while Parnahyba Whiptail Catfish is peaceful (1/10). This modest difference means Parnahyba Whiptail Catfish may occasionally assert dominance over Green Neon Tetra.

In terms of spatial distribution, Green Neon Tetra prefers the Middle (Open Water) zone, whereas Parnahyba Whiptail Catfish occupies the Bottom (Substrate) zone. Because they use different levels of the water column, territorial disputes are less likely and the tank will appear more balanced.

Worth noting: Parnahyba Whiptail Catfish is nocturnal and will be most active after lights-out, naturally reducing daytime encounters.

The safe temperature window for both species falls between 24°C and 29°C. Aim for the midpoint of this range (around 26.5°C) for optimal comfort.
