Can Freshwater Sole and Glowlight Danio Live Together?

Freshwater Sole is a generally mild-mannered species (4/10), while Glowlight Danio is peaceful (2/10). This modest difference means Freshwater Sole may occasionally assert dominance over Glowlight Danio.

In terms of spatial distribution, Freshwater Sole prefers the Bottom (Substrate) zone, whereas Glowlight Danio occupies the Top (Surface) and Middle (Open Water) zones. Providing a mix of open swimming space and sheltered areas with rocks, driftwood, or plants will keep both species comfortable and allow natural behaviour.

Feeding time deserves special attention with this pairing. Freshwater Sole is a known shrimp eater and may prey on small invertebrates or nano fish like Glowlight Danio. Glowlight Danio is an aggressive eater that may prevent Freshwater Sole from getting enough food.

Because Glowlight Danio is a fast, competitive feeder, consider using sinking pellets or feeding at opposite ends of the setup to ensure Freshwater Sole receives an adequate share.
