Can Flash Pleco (L204) and Zebra Pleco (L046) Live Together?

Flash Pleco (L204) is a generally mild-mannered species (4/10), while Zebra Pleco (L046) is generally mild-mannered (3/10). This modest difference means Flash Pleco (L204) may occasionally assert dominance over Zebra Pleco (L046).

Flash Pleco (L204) and Zebra Pleco (L046) both frequent the Bottom (Substrate) region of the setup. This overlap can increase competition for space, so providing ample room and cover is important to keep both species comfortable.

Additional behavioural considerations to keep in mind: Two territorial species may clash over territory, especially in smaller tanks.

Worth noting: Flash Pleco (L204) is nocturnal and will be most active after lights-out, naturally reducing daytime encounters.

Because this pairing requires extra vigilance, include plenty of hiding spots — caves, driftwood, and dense plant clusters — so the less dominant fish can retreat when needed.
