Can Celebes Halfbeak and Chinese Barb (Green Barb) Live Together?

Celebes Halfbeak is a generally mild-mannered species (4/10), while Chinese Barb (Green Barb) is peaceful (2/10). This modest difference means Celebes Halfbeak may occasionally assert dominance over Chinese Barb (Green Barb).

In terms of spatial distribution, Celebes Halfbeak prefers the Top (Surface) zone, whereas Chinese Barb (Green Barb) occupies the Middle (Open Water) and Bottom (Substrate) zones. Because they use different levels of the water column, territorial disputes are less likely and the tank will appear more balanced.

Worth noting: Celebes Halfbeak is a known jumper, so a tight-fitting lid is essential.

The safe temperature window for both species falls between 22°C and 26°C. Aim for the midpoint of this range (around 24.0°C) for optimal comfort.
