Can Amazon Leaf Fish and Loricaria spinulifera Live Together?

Amazon Leaf Fish is a peaceful species (2/10), while Loricaria spinulifera is peaceful (1/10). This modest difference means Amazon Leaf Fish may occasionally assert dominance over Loricaria spinulifera.

In terms of spatial distribution, Amazon Leaf Fish prefers the Middle (Open Water) and Top (Surface) zones, whereas Loricaria spinulifera occupies the Bottom (Substrate) zone. Because they use different levels of the water column, territorial disputes are less likely and the tank will appear more balanced.

Worth noting: Amazon Leaf Fish is nocturnal and will be most active after lights-out, naturally reducing daytime encounters.

The safe temperature window for both species falls between 25°C and 29°C. Aim for the midpoint of this range (around 27.0°C) for optimal comfort.

Providing a mix of open swimming space and sheltered areas with rocks, driftwood, or plants will keep both species comfortable and allow natural behaviour.
