Can Glowlight Danio and Senegal Bichir Live Together?

Glowlight Danio is a peaceful species (2/10), while Senegal Bichir is moderately assertive (6/10). This notable difference means Senegal Bichir may occasionally assert dominance over Glowlight Danio.

In terms of spatial distribution, Glowlight Danio prefers the Top (Surface) and Middle (Open Water) zones, whereas Senegal Bichir occupies the Bottom (Substrate) zone. Providing a mix of open swimming space and sheltered areas with rocks, driftwood, or plants will keep both species comfortable and allow natural behaviour.

The main risk is not a single number in the chart; it is the way incompatible behavior, water needs, or pressure on space compounds over time once both fish are established in the same tank.

Feeding time deserves special attention with this pairing. Senegal Bichir is a known shrimp eater and may prey on small invertebrates or nano fish like Glowlight Danio.

Because Glowlight Danio is a fast, competitive feeder, consider using sinking pellets or feeding at opposite ends of the setup to ensure Senegal Bichir receives an adequate share.
