Can Azureus Cichlid and Bearded Cory Live Together?

Azureus Cichlid is a moderately assertive species (5/10), while Bearded Cory is peaceful (2/10). This modest difference means Azureus Cichlid may occasionally assert dominance over Bearded Cory.

In terms of spatial distribution, Azureus Cichlid prefers the Middle (Open Water) and Top (Surface) zones, whereas Bearded Cory occupies the Bottom (Substrate) zone. Because they use different levels of the water column, territorial disputes are less likely and the tank will appear more balanced.

The safe temperature window for both species falls between 23°C and 23°C. Aim for the midpoint of this range (around 23.0°C) for optimal comfort.

The pH requirements of Azureus Cichlid (7.8–8.6) and Bearded Cory (6–7.4) do not overlap, making it impossible to satisfy both species simultaneously.
